Day 11: Padrón to Santiago de Compestela

 We planned to get up earlier than usual but slept in. We still left the accommodation at 7.30. 

It was chucking it down and it was dark, sunrise was not till 8.55.  So walking with head torches we headed through the suburbs avoiding the large puddles. It was easy enough going as it did not start climbing to 7km. The route was mostly along narrow alley ways, busy roads  and dirt tracks. There were street lights for about 3km. 

Soaked through we stopped for breakfast at 8km. Unfortunately a large tour group that we had nicknamed the yellow jackets had got there before us so there was a very long queue 😢.  

Back on the road and the rain had eased , then we started to climb to 260m. Some of it was steep and at at one point we had to negotiate a fallen tree. 

Less than 10km to go to Santago.

Met Sissy 72, had hip replacements and waiting on two knee replacements! This is her third Camino!

From here it was very urban all the way to Santiago cathedral.

Our hostel was Alberge Seminario Menor.  Just under a 1km from the cathedral. Being an old Seminary it is vey sparse and basic accommodation. 

Tomorrow we start a new Camino to Fisterra.
